Depend, Delight, Devote
Hello everyone! My name is Michaela Mandel. I am the newly hired Family Ministries and Hope Shores Program Assistant. I went to UW-Eau Claire and graduated with an Organizational Communication degree.
I think a unique part of my story is that my freshman year of college I decided to follow Jesus as my Lord and Savior. Faith was not important to me until I got involved with InterVarsity Christian Fellowship, where I realized I could have a personal relationship with Jesus.
Throughout my four years in Eau Claire, God grew me in Depending on Him to help me through school, Delighting in His word through leading weekly Bible studies, and Devoting myself to loving the girls on the floor of my dorm. God slowly started to grow a love of ministry within me and by the end of my senior year I knew He was calling me to be in ministry as a career.
Fast forward to a couple weeks ago on my first day as a full-time Hope staffer. Heidi Connors, my wonderful boss, sat down with me as we went over what my role would look like going forward. The most impactful information she revealed during the meeting was the truths she held onto as she started her own ministry career 6 years ago. She reminded herself to always Depend on God, Delight in His Word, and Devote herself to loving others. Do you see a pattern forming?
I believe we are called to do these three things throughout every season of our lives. Whether we are just starting in our faith, or rolling into 50 years of loving and serving the Lord. Whether we are pursuing a ministry job or are working as an elementary school teacher. Whether we are celebrating the birth of a new baby, or mourning the loss of a loved one. In every season, God is calling us to live out these three truths.
Read Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 and reflect on the ways God is asking you to Depend, Delight and Devote in this season of your life.
