The Presence of Christmas
It’s Christmastime. A time to start preparing for parties, presents, and plans to celebrate. We anticipate and look forward to this time of year… and yet often we find ourselves frazzled and forgetting.
We are frazzled by writing Christmas cards, buying presents, and baking cookies.
We are frazzled by our calendars and appointments.
We are frazzled by our family and friends – the people that we love the most.
We forget that Jesus drew near at Christmas.
We forget that Jesus came as a baby to dwell among us –Emmanuel, God with us.
We forget that He came to show real love, so that we would know how to love others.
We forget that the real present of Christmas is the PRESENCE of Jesus.
So, let’s dwell with these questions to replace the frazzle of the season.
How can I draw near to Jesus in preparation for advent?
How can I bring the love of Jesus to Christmas celebrations this year?
How can I carry Jesus’ presence in my heart and share it with others this season?
Let’s prepare our hearts for the Presence of Jesus because he is the best example of love drawing near.
“Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel” (which means, God with us). Matthew 1:23
