First Time Visitors

We Look Forward to Your First Visit!

How do I get to Hope?
Hope Church is located just south of Minneapolis in a first-ring suburb, Richfield. Hope Church is easy to visit, with quick access via freeways or bus. There are Metropolitan Transit stops on both sides of Portland Ave S right in front of our church. Every 15 minutes, on 66th St, a route 515 bus running between Southdale and Cedar Ave stops at the intersection of 66th St and Portland. From there, on a nice day you might walk the half mile south to our church at 7132 Portland Ave S. Alternately, at the corner of 66th and Portland you can transfer to a MTC route 5 or 553 bus and travel south to the stop at 72nd St and Portland. Visit MTC's web site for more information about their routes.

What should I wear?
There is no dress code so you should feel free to come as you are. Typically what you will see when you attend the traditional service (8:45) is people dressed in attire that could be classified as business casual. At the contemporary service (11:00) dress is often more casual. In the evening, at the Well, most are in jeans and casual attire.

Is childcare offered?
Yes, come visit our Nursery where we serve Infants, Waddlers, & Toddlers all morning. Come check in at our “Hospitality Hub” to learn how we can best serve you and your children.
Traditional Sunday School is available during the 10:00 Connection Hour. Check-in your children at our “Hospitality Hub” and we will introduce you to our outstanding volunteers who teach Sunday School each week. We LOVE visitors! If you attend our 11:00 Contemporary Service, you’ll find that families are given the opportunity to worship together! If you have children age 4 – 2nd grade, they can be dismissed for “Kids Church” and ushered down the hall to the courtyard room to participate in kid-friendly worship activities until parents pick them up after the service.

“Jesus said to them, ‘Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.’” Mark 10:14

When is worship?
We have two worship services on Sunday mornings (8:45 a.m. and 11:00 a.m.) and one on Sunday evenings at 6:30 p.m. All three take place in our sanctuary which is most easily reached by door number two (flags with the purple crosses on them). Each service lasts about an hour.

8:45 a.m. worship is a traditional service that features elements of worship you may be used to seeing in church. During the fall and winter months this means organ music, robed clergy, and a chancel choir. In the summer months our worship style is more casual, our choir takes a summer break and the worship leaders forgo the robes.

The 11:00 a.m. service is a contemporary worship service that features a more informal worship style and a praise band that plays upbeat praise songs.

"The Well" is the name of our evening service at 6:30 p.m. The Well presents itself as a supplement to attending a traditional church service or an alternative for those who feel isolated and uncomfortable in a traditional church environment. The Well will provide a comfortable and intimate atmosphere. The lights will be low and the blinds will be lowered. Candles will be placed around the sanctuary. A prayer station will be located at the back of the sanctuary. People will be encouraged to visit the station at any point in the evening to pray and/or be prayed for. Worship will include, in varying combinations, an opening music set, announcements, scripture reading, a message, a closing music set, an offering, and experiential faith steps. The Well is for people of every age, for those already a part of Hope Church, and especially for those yet to come!

From 10:00 - 10:50 a.m. is our Connection Hour when people of all ages gather to connect with God and with each other. Children will all attend Sunday School at this time. Youth will attend a specialized class. Adults may choose between several different classes. Or, feel free to use this time to have coffee in The Link and learn more about our church.

Communion is served on the first Sunday of every month at all three services.

Where do I park and enter the building?
Parking is available in off-street lots on the west side of the building via 4th Ave, and on the east side of the campus via the Portland Ave entrance. Doors 2 (on the east side of the worship building) and 15 (on the north) are nearest the sanctuary. From the west parking lot, enter at door 13 and turn left to reach the sanctuary.
